The rumours have been going about for years now but if this is true, the global health implications could be diasterous.  I am quite curious as to how the industry will deal with the news.  - The Angryindian

Scientists warn that even a 10 minute cell-phone conversation can trigger chemical changes in the brain and increase the risk of cancer.

A recent study has shown that even low levels of radiation from handsets interfere with the process of cell division, which promotes the growth of tumors.

Previous studies were unable to link cell-phone use and brain tumors or the increase in cancer rates; there was also no evidence proving the harmfulness of cell-phone signals.

Based on the hypothesis that cell-phones emit too little radiation to dangerously heat the brain, cell-phones were considered to be safe.

However, the new study, suggests that even the 'non-thermal' radiation may be a risk.

Shame that the source story cited no verifiable sources of its own.  Otherwise this could be alarming news indeed.

Do you happen have a source (URL if possible) of the original study/paper?

Antipixel reports that the study is Dutch government project on teh radition from cell phone waves and The Resigter goes  further in explaining the findings:

There are fears over the safety of next generation phone services
today after research found that signals from 3G base stations can cause
tingling, nausea and headaches.

The Dutch Government, which carried out the study, said further
investigations needed to be carried to out to confirm the results.
However, it is already planning to discuss the matter with the European
Commission.

Explaining what happened to those who took part in the study, a
Government spokeswoman told Reuters: "If the test group was exposed to
third generation base stations there was a significant impact. They
felt tingling sensations, got headaches and felt nauseous."

On the flip side, the research also found that the signals can improve memory and response times making people more alert.

In a statement the GSM Association said: "The authors of the Dutch
study report small statistically-significant effects on exposure to 3G
signals but no effects from GSM signals.

"As the effects are small it is unclear whether they have any health
significance. As acknowledged by the researchers, the unique design of
this experiment needs to be peer reviewed and replicated by other
investigators before any conclusions can be drawn.

"The GSM Association has committed about €6 million for co-funded
independent research projects that will contribute to on-going health
risk assessments by the World Health Organization," it said.

Good Story AI, but My God, then that would mean I am now clinically Brain Dead as  my cell phone and I are tied to the hip.

I would think in most cases cell phone use most likely causes more stress and accidents to it's users than Brain Cancers though.

I know I get friggin stressed late at night when my cell phone rings because that means I have to go to work.

National Research Council did studies from other medical sources, and it was inconclusive, just as Electro Magnetic Fields (EMF ) studies of overheadf power lines near residential homes.

Medical science knows so very little about the human body, and human effects of our environment and are only now this past decade with technological advancements in science are reseachers starting to realise it's detrimental effects. Though clinical studies and trials last 6 to 7 years before results are known and even then, it is still not 100% accurate, but a baseline.

IA, perhaps we all should just live, eat what you like, love the ones you're with, be at peace with yourself, do a job you love, as the stress worrying what is out there that may kill us, may in fact be the stress itself may be our demise.  I truly believe when your number is up, it's quitting time.

A dear friend of mine, who has been diagnosed with epilepsy, has said that when she talks on her cell for extended periods, she often begins to feel as if she is going into a seizure.
