Since “street cred” is way more important than talent, or anything else for that matter, it doesn’t matter how you look. Unlike the pretty-boy forms of pop-music, being ugly might just convey the notion that you are “from the street” (bad teeth, and a face twisted from years of misery and malnutrition). What people want is a rags-to-riches story, and if you have a face that can instantly convince people that you were selling crack at age 3 while simultaneously eating out of dumpsters and pimping out your mom, you will be the next ghetto superstar.
