Today there is 12.3 million slaves in the world. Some say more than all the slaves combined from the 19th century. When the US ended slavery the average price of a slave was about 50,000 $ in todays terms, now they can sell for just a few dollars. This 8 min. video takes us on a tour around the world to see the hotspots for slavers. It covers Child Labour Bondage and Forced prostitution. Starting in China and Asia where most of the worlds slaves are and ending in Mauritania. But there are slaves in almost every country in the world, and many are children, because they are cheaper to maintain and less likely to rebel against their masters.
UN Estimates 12.3 million slaves worldwide.
UN Estimates 5.7 million slaves under 18 yrs old
