I would like to know if anyone cares at all about Gian Ghomeshi's

CBC radio show, "Canada's Playlist", which seems constantly to haunt

the airwaves, with no discernable beginning and therefore no possible

end.

I don't dislike Gian Ghomeshi at all. I think his role in the world's

worst band, Moxy Fruvus, shouldn't colour our perceptions of him. I

recall that he did a decent job on whatever CBC television show that

was where he interviewed people in a bar, although frankly I felt that

he was often overly familiar with his guests and no one wants to watch

that because it's just embarrassing.

I
don't know how he got stuck with this "Canada's Playlist" stinker. I
think that at the CBC offices he must hate running into that brilliant
hipster guy with the

long last name, because that guy has the best gig and Gian has the

worst. Imagine the strain he is under, having to rev himself up for a

seven hour marathon each day in which he must beg people to email him

strongly-felt opinions about K.D. Lang, moderate meaningless

discussions, find guests who will try to summon up long-dead feeling

about songs from 1991, and play the little bell noise to signal his

guests to stop speaking excitedly about "riffs", "licks", "evocations",

and "sensorial meaning" in Nickelback.

And what is meant to happen to this playlist in the end? Are

they planning to send it up in the space shuttle or bury it in a time

capsule in the House of Commons?
