A weekend of carnage on Scotland's roads has claimed the lives of at least 14 people.

The worst crash happened on Tayside, when two cars collided on a blind summit, causing one to burst into flames.

A Honda Civic carrying William Melville, 67, his wife Allison, 60, and their 33-year-old son William junior - all from the village of Methven - ploughed into a Vauxhall Corsa on the A85 Perth-Crieff road close to their home. Mr Melville's son and wife were killed at the scene, while he died at Perth Royal Infirmary.

Police told how they arrived to find the Corsa on fire, with flames engulfing two young female passengers. The pair, believed to be aged 19 and 20-years-old and both from Crieff, Tayside, were pronounced dead at the scene.
