     Louisiana -- Clinton Eugene "Gene" Benoit was last heard from on Monday. His sister, Joyce Benoit-Barker, of Lake Charles, LA recalled their last conversation. "He said he was ok, gave me the address of where he was and mentioned his truck had been flattened by a tree and so far things were ok." That is the last time she talked to her brother.

     Monday came and went. Tuesday rolled around and melted into Wednesday. Still no word. She put in a call to family members in St. Louis hoping to hear good news. Perhaps they could get in touch with members of the National Guard at Jackson Barracks who knew the family, maybe someone would have news. Unfortunately, members of the Guard stationed at Jackson Barracks had been relocated due to flooding. They were gone, Jackson Barracks was under water, and so was Chalmette, as well as most of St. Bernard Parish, Plaquemines, Orleans and other places.

It was time to start looking elsewhere. Family members are actively looking for any and all information they can get on anyone that was evacuated from St. Bernard Parish in the past few days. Allison Barker, Benoit's niece, has been diligently searching for information. So far, no luck. Messages have been posted on numerous boards, sites, and lists. Countless hours are spent wadding through message board after message board, in hopes of news. In addition to searching the web, they are repeatedly calling his cell phone and sending text messages, hopefully he will get the messages. Yesterday it was discovered that some folks in southeastern Louisiana were able to receive text messages and they could make outbound calls.
