KINGMAN, AZ (UPI) -- The first of eight trials alleging
sexual misconduct with minors by men from a polygamist community on the
Utah-Arizona border began Wednesday.
Kelly Fischer, a 39-year-old contractor, is charged with sexual
conduct with a minor and conspiracy to commit sexual conduct with a
minor. He is alleged to have had a 'spiritual marriage' with a
16-year-old girl between October 2000 and March 2001. The girl has
since had a child.
Each charge is punishable by up to two years in Arizona state prison.
Fischer is one of eight men from Colorado City, Ariz., and Hildale, Utah, facing the same charges.
