22-year-old runner dies after London Marathon

A 22-year-old has died after running the London Marathon. Over 36,000 runners entered the race, out of which St. John Ambulance says they treated 5,032 people. Conditions for this year's run were extremely warm as temperatures were over 21 Celsius. The cause of the 22-year-old man's deaths has not been released. Another man is still in hospital in critical condition.


Kenya's Martin Lel won the men's race in an upset for favourites Haile Gebrselassie and reigning world marathon record holder Paul Tergat.
The cause of the 22-year-old's death has not yet been released - his is the ninth death since the London Marathon began in 1981.
