This is a story just coming across our desk here; we will keep an eye on it and let you know if there is any more info as it arises.

At least 28 people were killed when the compound wall of a state-run liquor shop collapsed in Tirupur town, 70 km from Coimbatore, on Wednesday evening. Police sources said the 15-feet tall compound wall was recently erected by a hosiery unit.

Police said rescue efforts were on and there could be people trapped under the debris.

Investigations were on into the cause of the mishap.
