Floods driven by heavy monsoon rains have displaced at least 66,000 people in India’s north-eastern Assam state, it was reported on Friday.

About 13,000 hectares of land were swamped by floodwaters after major rivers in the state including the Brahmaputra breached their banks and were flowing above the danger-mark at several places.
