A barzelletta from Giulio Meotti's essay that appeared in yesterday's Wall Street Journal, noted at Papa Ratzinger Blog.

There's a joke going around the Vatican.  The progressive Swiss theologian Hans Kung reaches Paradise and discusses his theories with St Peter.  He leaves the interview in tears, saying, "How could I have been so wrong?"   The same situation; the heretical priest Leonardo Boff leaves in tears: "How could I have been so wrong?"  Then it's the turn of Joseph Ratzinger, the German who became pope as Benedict XVI.  At the end of the meeting, St Peter leaves in tears: "How could I have been so wrong?"
