It sounds like a vignette from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. Only this time the birds lose. Every night during the spring and fall migration season scores of birds fly into Toronto, but, blinded by city lights, many fly directly into high-rise office towers and kill themselves. It's estimated at least a million birds each year are killed this way across the GTA, according to the Fatal Light Awareness Program (FLAP), a volunteer environmental group that tries to save migratory birds from this fate.
