Arthur Herman, an historian (The Idea of Decline in Western History, How the Scots Invented the Modern World, inter alii) and academic, in this month's Commentary proposes an outline of what the United States can do to force Iran to give up its 'regional hegemon' game, referencing specifically the U.S. naval campaign in 1986-1988 that sank Tehran's attempts to command the Arabian/Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War.  (Via J.
