The main concern is rural Post Offices, they are a lifeline and a social meeting place for villages, take them away and people will have to travel into towns, causing even more vehicle traffic and Post Office queues than there already are. This is a very unpopular decision.
Some 2,500 post offices - a fifth of those left in the UK - are to close by 2009, the government is set to confirm.Trade Secretary Alistair Darling is expected to confirm the closures when he makes a Commons statement later on the future of the network.
Ministers say the current network is "unsustainable", with fewer customers and losses of £4m a week.
My local Post Office is 5 miles away from the nearest bank, I would prefer to pay my money into the local village post office than travel 5 miles to the nearest town. Why cant rural Post Offices handle banking?

I agree. And I like the way you found the YouTube stuff.
Nice work! You also added a great foto of the Northampton PO.
