CONTRACTORS have already started work on the site of the county's second super school. The £30m Corby Academy, near Weldon, is due to open in September, 2008, and will be funded by Northamptonshire County Council, government grants, Brooke Weston Technology College, the Weston Foundation and local firm Bee Bee Developments.
More than 1,250 pupils will be on the roll at the school being built at the heart of the huge Priors Hall housing development, which will see 5,100 homes constructed over the next 18 years.
The school could also house a 250-place sixth form and will replace the ageing Corby Community College.
Designed by architect Norman Foster, the school is being built on disused contaminated land which is being cleaned up.
