The first beaver spotted in New York City in more than 200 years has biologists hopeful the Bronx River is making an environmental comeback.

Biologists with the Wildlife Conservation Society on Wednesday videotaped a beaver swimming in the once filthy river, said the New York Times.

They say it's the first time the large rodent has been identified in the city since it was driven out by hunters and development 200 years ago.
