I would like to now where these slot machines are in South Florida. Everytime I go to the Seminole Casino the Casino comes out smiling and I leave in a confused state promising never to go back again.
August 18, 2007 -- PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was the slot machine that kept on giving and giving and . . .A video lottery terminal at the Twin River casino gave gamblers credit for twice as much money as they had inserted - and erroneously paid out $450,115 over two months.
The machine, installed on May 25, was removed on July 15. Its supplier, Gtech, reimbursed the state and is investigating whether there was criminal activity, whether it could recoup any of the lost money and whether the problem could have been uncovered sooner.
Gtech spokesman Robert Vincent said the machine's money-doubling feature was turned on, apparently by accident. It credits double the amount put in, with a maximum of a $100 credit for a $50 bill.
The state will keep $274,000 of the reimbursed money, with the rest to be shared by Gtech, Twin River and the casino's host town of Lincoln.
Last summer, a Caesars Indiana slot machine credited $10 for every dollar inserted because the software wasn't designed for U.S. currency. Caesars lost $487,000, State Police said.
