EUROPEAN plane maker Airbus is to axe around 10,000 jobs after suffering a huge loss of market share to US rival Boeing.

The company’s German operations will be the worst hit.

Sources close to the embattled company said that Airbus’s operations in other countries will also see job losses, but its Hamburg operations will see the biggest employment cuts.
