Akhand: I am an independent journalist and Human Rights Acivist based at Bhubaneswar, India, and writing on various development issues. I contribute to both mainstream and web-enabled publications. My writings focuses on giving voice to issues marginalised by mainstream media. I have already completed eleven years in Newspaper office as sub-editor / Reporter. Major responsibilities in office was to work with rural and development and Human Rights news. Now I specially write on rural issues by traveling village areas of the state. I also working as Chief Functionary of India Media Centre, an organization working for protection of Human Rights and Freedom of Press.
I born in a farmers family and after Graduation I did my Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass communication in 2000. Now Journalism is not only my livelihood, but my life. In 2008, I got the prestigious Sarojini Naidu national Award for development reporting.
