Al Gore: Reborn to run?
Al Gore says he's not running. So why is his 2000 campaign staff gearing up for '08?
CONCORD, N.H. - Veterans of Al Gore's past are quietly assembling a campaign to draft the former vice president into the 2008 presidential race — despite his repeated statements that he's not running.
His top policy adviser from his 2000 presidential campaign and other key supporters met Thursday in Boston to mull a potential Gore campaign. The participants and Gore's Nashville office both said Gore, who is in London, is not involved.
Al Gore owns the buzz-issue of the day. He has the inside track for a Nobel. Election 2000 was the most competitive, and contentious race in memory, with Gore winning the popular vote. Has history passed Al Gore by, or will he decide that the time is right for his brand of enviro-activist governance?
Two questions on Al's signature buzz-issue
1) I would love for Al to explain why he said this:
I believe it is appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous (global warming) is, as a predicate for opening up the audience to listen to what the solutions are, and how hopeful it is that we are going to solve this crisis.”
2) Why won't Al use his position to facilitate a responsible debate on climate change?
Since Al Gore was offered the opportunity (in person) to facilitate serious debate on the underlying science of global climate change, 1 year, 1 month, 4 days, 5 hours, 59 minutes, and 52 seconds have elapsed.
