Alex, the Celebrity Parrot of More Than 100 Words, Dies--& Gets NY Times Obit

Alex, the famous African Grey Parrot, died at age 31. His website notes that he was the focal point of Dr. Irene Pepperberg', (Ph.D.) ground-breaking study on cognition and communication research.

He was intellectually at the level of a five-year-old child, the research proved. Alex understood the concept of zero, and could identify objects, shapes, and colors as well as blending different things to make original sentences.

Not only that--Alex earned a prestigious New York Times obituary.

He knew his colors and shapes, he learned more than 100 English words, and with his own brand of one-liners he established himself in TV shows, scientific reports, and news articles as perhaps the world’s most famous talking bird.
