Amateur "Doogie Howser" Performs C-Section
NEW DELHI, INDIA--In an attempt to set a world record as the youngest surgeon, Dhileepan Raj, a 15-year-old teen from India was arrested for delivering a baby by Caesarean section.
Police arrested the parents of the wanna-be "Doogie Howser" who are both doctors and supervised their son while he performing the surgery. They were charged with cheating, forgery of records, endangering human life, concealing evidence and abetting a crime. If convicted, they could be sentenced to up to seven years each.
So how did he get caught? His own father! Last week the "proud daddy" showed a CD to doctors of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) video recording of his son performing the Caesarean birth. The video showed the father anesthetizing the patient before the boy started the operation in his father's maternity hospital. He told the press that he wanted to see his son's name in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Amarilis Espinoza, a spokeswoman for Guinness World Records, said in an e-mail Guinness does not endorse such attempts because they encourage “bad medicine.” (Nah...really?)

Whilst babies are delivered by non-doctors all the time, C-sections are another story!
