America’s Wahhabi Invasion - Forewarned is Forearmed
“The Wahhabi Invasion of America”
Reza F. Safa, author of Inside Islam, estimates that
since 1973, the Saudi government has spent an unbelievable $87B to
promote Wahhabism in the United States, Africa, Southeast Asia and
Europe
In these Wahhabi texts, Islam is presented as the only
true religion while all other religions are presented as false. ìIslam
is the only religion leading its followers to Paradise, whereas all
other religions destroy their believers in Hell. The Muslims are,
consequently, superior to followers of all other religions, in both
this world and the next.î
Christians and Jews in particular are denounced as
infidels. Jews especially are presented as enemies of Islam and of
Muslims. ìMuslims may not befriend them, nor emulate them in any way,
lest that lead to love and friendship which is forbiddenî.
And the most malleable minds belong to Muslim children.
An estimated 30,000 Muslim children attend Saudi-funded Wahhabi day
schools in America. Intolerance and outright rejection of American
values and democratic ideals - classical Wahabbism - are often taught
There has been a remarkable growth of private Islamic
Schools in America during the past 15 years. In a study that was done
in 1987 by the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)#1 and the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT)#2
there were only about 50 verified schools in America. Now, in 2004,
there are approximately 220. In just 2003 alone there were probably at
least 6 new schools that opened. This is a trend that will continue so
the League#3 felt
that it is important (and timely) to provide some resources that
communities can refer to in the planning stages of opening a new school
in your community. There is no “right” or “typical” model for opening a new
school. An Islamic school is typically community based and supported
and is created to meet the needs of the community it serves. Some
schools evolve out of a home-schooling effort; some are initiated and
supported by a community Masjid; others are founded by a group of
parents who share similar educational goals for their children. Schools
range in size from 10 students and 1 grade right on up to larger
schools with a student body of 600 or more students spanning grades
Pre-K through 12.#1) Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)
- Enforces extremist Wahhabi theological writ in America’s mosques
- Established in 1963 by the by the Saudi-funded Muslim Students’ Association of the U.S. and Canada,
the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) calls itself the largest
Muslim organization on the continent. Its annual convention draws more
attendees — usually over 30,000 — than any other Muslim gathering in
the Western Hemisphere. ISNA’s mission
is to function as “an association of Muslim organizations and
individuals that provides a common platform for presenting Islam,
supporting Muslim communities, developing educational, social and
outreach programs and fostering good relations with other religious
communities, and civic and service organizations.#2) International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT)
- Islamic institution with ties to the extremist Saudi-Wahhabi movement
- Seeks to portray Wahhabism as peaceful
- Partner organization to the Graduate School of Islamic and Social Sciences

This issue will not go away, so it is best to educate ourselves
about the various positions and conditions that these two new concepts
bring to our Islamic schools. Enter our Vouchers/Charter Schools room
and browse through the wide range of information. Are charter schools a
threat to Islamic school, or are they a last ditch attempt to provide
our children with some sort of schooling more connected to our way of
life? Will vouchers bring government into our Islamic schools, or will
it remove our Islamic schools from debt? Your school needs you to be an
informed contributor to this national discussion.
“Saudi Arabia: Friend or Foe in the War on Terror”
November 8, 2005
Thank you, Mr. Chairman, for the opportunity to testify
before this distinguished Committee. On behalf of Freedom House’s
Center for Religious Freedom, I wish to present the findings of the
report, Saudi Publications on Hate Ideology Invade American Mosques,
which Freedom House issued in January 2005, as well as some comments on
the shortcomings of the Saudi government’s response.
In order to document Saudi influence, the material for
this report was gathered from a selection of more than a dozen mosques
and Islamic centers in American cities, including Los Angeles, Oakland,
Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Washington, and New York. In most cases,
these sources, while representing a small fraction of the total number
of mosques in the United States, are among the most prominent and
well-established mosques in their areas.
One of them states: “Be dissociated from the infidels,
hate them for their religion, leave them, never rely on them for
support, do not admire them, and always oppose them in every way
according to Islamic law.”
Daniel Pipes speaks. America should must listen.
Troubles at Islamic Schools in the West - Daniel Pipes
In “What Are Islamic Schools Teaching?” I noted seven Islamic schools in North America, six American and one Canadian, which teach hostility to Jews and Christians or had suspected links to terrorism. This is a recurring pattern, and so important to document on a regular basis, which I shall do here. Other instances include:
What Are Islamic Schools Teaching? - Daniel Pipes
- New York City: An investigation by the New York Daily News
in 2003 found that books used in the city’s Muslim schools “are rife
with inaccuracies, sweeping condemnations of Jews and Christians, and
triumphalist declarations of Islam’s supremacy.”- Los Angeles: The Omar Ibn Khattab Foundation donated 300 Korans (titled The Meaning of the Holy Quran)
to the city school district in 2001 that within months had to be pulled
from school libraries because of its anti-Semitic commentaries. One
footnote reads: “The Jews in their arrogance claimed that all wisdom
and all knowledge of Allah was enclosed in their hearts. … Their claim
was not only arrogance but blasphemy.”- Ajax, Ontario, 50 kilometers east of Toronto: The Institute of Islamic Learning
is a Canadian emulation of the extremist Deobandi madrassahs of
Pakistan. It focuses exclusively on religious topics, has students
memorize the Koran, demands total segregation from the Canadian milieu,
and requires complete gender separation. Former students complained
about the school’s cult-like devotion to its head, Abdul Majid Khan,
and complained that it is a “twisted religion.”Then there are four leading Islamic schools in the Washington, D.C. area:
- The Muslim Community School in Potomac, Md., imbues in its students a sense of alienation from their own country. Seventh-grader Miriam told a Washington Post
reporter in 2001, “Being American is just being born in this country.”
Eighth-grader Ibrahim announced that “Being an American means nothing
to me.”- A textbook used at the Islamic Saudi Academy
of Alexandria, Va., in 2004, authored and published by the Saudi
Ministry of Education, teaches first graders that “all religions, other
than Islam, are false, including that of the Jews [and] Christians.” An
ISA class valedictorian, Ahmed Omar Abu Ali, was recently indicted for plotting to assassinate President Bush.- The U.S. government revoked the visas in 2004 of sixteen people affiliated with the Institute for Islamic and Arabic Sciences in America, of Fairfax, Va. In the words of the Washington Post,
“That decision followed accusations that the institute, a satellite
campus of al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, was
promoting a brand of Islam that critics say is intolerant of other
strains of the religion as well as Christianity and Judaism.” In
addition, the IIASA is under investigation for ties to terrorism.- The Graduate School of Islamic Social Sciences of Ashburn, Va., referred to as a “purported” educational institution in an affidavit justifying a raid on the school, had its financial records seized in 2002 on suspicions of links to terrorism.
An Activist’s Guide to Arab and Muslim Campus and Community Organizations in North America
1. Historical Background
Islam comprises two main divisions: Sunnis, the great majority, and
Shi’as, who count about 17 percent of Muslims worldwide. Sufis, or
teachers and practitioners of spiritual Islam, are a large community
within both Sunni and Shi’a Islam. In addition, there are many sects
within Sunni and Shi’a traditions. Wahhabism, the official sect of
Saudi Arabia, is a fundamentalist trend in Sunni Islam, which has come
to dominate American Islam thanks to specific financial and political
advantages made possible by a long-lasting U.S.-Saudi alliance. Read more here. The Battle for the American Campus- By Mark Silverberg | On April 5, 2002
College students got some bad press last May with the
release of a poll conducted by the Luntz Research Co. for the group
Americans for Victory over Terrorism. “Only 16% believe Western culture
is superior to Arab culture,” the poll found, “but 79% do not.” If
true; it explains a lot about what’s happening on the campuses of
America.According to the latest ADL survey, during the first 5
months of 2002, 626 anti-Semitic incidents were reported across the
country. 10% of those incidents took place on our campuses - four times
as many as in the same period in 2001.San Francisco State University: In April, 2002, a flyer
advertising a pro-Palestinian rally at San Francisco State University
(SFSU) featured a picture of a dead baby with the words “CANNED
PALESTINIAN CHILDREN MEAT - SLAUGHTERED ACCORDING TO JEWISH RITES UNDER
AMERICAN LICENSE” - casually reintroducing the 900-year old “blood
libel” myth that Jews slaughter gentile children and use their blood to
bake into their matzos.Related: Tellin’ Tales Out Of School
