Americans betrayed by Democratic senators with surprise amendment that

protects Big Pharma monopoly

Consumers expecting a miracle in the Senate that would end Big

Pharma's monopoly and the FDA-enforced drug racket now operating in

the United States will be sorely disappointed by yesterday's events.

Fifteen Democratic senators (led by Sen. Edward Kennedy) abandoned

consumer interests and joined a Republican-organized amendment that

would protect Big Pharma's stranglehold over U.S. consumers by

blocking the importation of prescription drugs from other countries.

And not just consumers will suffer, many corporations will take a big hit from this and may go bankrupt. See the rest of the story as posted on Babel.

You tell me, have you seen this on the media?

What happened to "FREE TRADE" it's the best thing since sliced bread, until it truly helps the consumer.

Can't close the border to all that cheap labor but when it comes to consumers getting cheap medicine, close off the border?

How do we fight such blatant hypocrisies?

I saw an article the other day that mentioned the vote on a bill on this subject, but almost no mention of this anywhere, too many Lavitra/Cialis commercials to allow time for the real truth?

People who actually study the economics of importing drugs or of drug price controls usually conclude that the American consumer is much better off the way things are now.  Drug profits are not out of line when one considers the incredible investments necessary to bring new drugs to market, and the potential for worthless and harmful imported drugs is huge.

Give me a brake! Whose PR are you reading? I've bought wholesale drugs in Algodones, Mexico, that originally came from Canada and they were just as good as anything sold in the US.

PLUS when buying ibopropeen in Mexico, that common anit-inflammatory and pain-killer, that used to be available only by prescription in the US, the Mexican pharmacies included an extensive document with warnings about gingeval problems (Dental, gum stuff) with use of ibopropeen that never came in any bottle bought in the US.

So an ACTUAL study that says FREE TRADE doesn't work??

HHHh,mmmmm NAFTA and GATT and all these new free traders need to be informed.  I didn't mention profits, I mentioned REGULATION and free trade.  They can always charge more overseas rather than subsidizing everyone elses meds by hiking my costs.

I notice the potential for tainted animal feed, going to chickens and pigs and the like is Ok since, once again the consumers get screwed and corporations get America to subsidize the world grain/meat markets rather than buying GOOD'OL AMERICAN feeds. China the starving country is selling the U.S. FOOD? Didn't   someone ad up 2+2 =?  China doesn't have food to sell so they must have been selling crap disguised as food, and it was.

I'm glad you had a good experience; many have not.  Many Americans have received worthless and even poisonous prescriptions from abroad.  It's always been interesting to me to listen to some of my older friends sit around complaining about drug companies and drug prices when none of them would even be alive if it were not for the drugs they are taking that are only available because investors were willing to gamble millions to make a profit.  For the sake of my children and grandchildren I don't want these investments to dry up.

You may be right. there are so many websites and spammers advertising meds now online that I wouldn't be surprised that some have been scammed.

If you're going to order online, don't use one of these to do it. Always a good idea to investigate a company thoroughly before using them to order anything!
