More adults in the United States are rejecting Democratic New York senator Hillary Rodham Clinton as a presidential candidate, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. 39 per cent of respondents say they would definitely not vote for the former first lady in the 2008 election.

Rodham Clinton—a Democrat—was elected to the United States Senate in 2000, defeating Republican Rick Lazio by 12 percentage points. 57 per cent of respondents believe it is very or somewhat likely that Rodham Clinton will be the Democratic nominee in 2008.

Yesterday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the non-prescription sale of the Plan B morning-after pill, which can be administered within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse to prevent a pregnancy, to women 18 and older.

Rodham Clinton—along with Democratic Washington senator Patty Murray—issued a statement which read: "While we urge the FDA to revisit placing age restrictions on the sale of Plan B, it is real progress that millions of American women will now have increased access to emergency contraception."
