NP Rank:
An Apathy Workshop? - that's the last straw.
We do have some lay-abouts in our neck of the woods (especially in Amargosa) but we have nothing like what I saw in a newspaper from Surrey England awhile ago while I was waiting for Marge to come by.
The thing that really got me was they were holding an Apathy Workshop in England. My goodness! We have enough apathy to go around, thank you very much! For example our government, for starters. Why on God's green earth would anyone want to go around encouraging apathy?
Apathy is awful!
I think this points out the big difference between the United States of America and England.
We fought a revolution against them precisely because we did not want to import their apathy against taxation without representation. We threw their tea into the harbor in Boston, and that was certainly NOT apathetic.
Now they have gotten rid of Tony Blair, the best friend the US has ever had and even though he was the best leader, there are some unscrupulous types that go around giving workshops on apathy.
My heart goes out to the people of England.

The purpose of the 'Apathy Workshop' was to encourage us to confront our own apathy and make the choice to actively participate in our community. The 'workshop' was the work of the artist who goes by the name 'Bob and Roberta Smith'. The whole May Day parade was in celebration of our right to protest.

Thelma thanks for your posting - but I would encourage you to read Kiko-Shi's comments above.
I think you might have misunderstood the purpose of the workshop - I think was actually a bit of a parody of apathy - making fun of people who are apathetic.
I do appreciate the effort you have taken to have your say, and you have made your point well. That is why I have flagged it Good Stuff.
But might you be willing to consider that you may a lot in common with those who have created the Apathy Workshop?

I do not think it is funny or clever to make fun of apathy - no matter who you are or how sophistacated you are. And there are people who will look at that photograph and think that would be a good workshop to take.
I also do not like the way you make me do arithmatic to add my two cents here. I know how to add 8 + 7 thank you very much.
