In the 1990s, Clinton, Gore and Chretien were the ruling politicians of the day. Kyoto was all the rage in envirospeak whereby both countries signed on, discussed it, monopolized media, used scare tactics, pointed fingers, hit the talk show circuit and finally did absolutely nothing about it. Why? Well, being intelligent men they knew if they implemented Kyoto, while the worst polluting countries such as China and India were exempt from Kyoto, political and corporate fortunes would have gone down the proverbial "Shitter". Ending with each of their respective Political parties plummeting into eternal Limbo.

Now that their political reign is a distant memory and political elections will soon be forthcoming, Kyoto and Environmentalism seems to be the new Buzzword in the last year. Now did Joe/Jane Public suddenly wake up one morning and say "Damn It, I am not going to take it anymore", I want Kyoto! Pass the Muesili! No opposition parties for the most part decided this for us.

According to the Angus Reid poll taken last year Canadians overwhelming response was they wanted clean air and a better environment. Canadians, agreed with US Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Jean Chretien and Paul Martin previous assessment that something must be done. Angus Reid poll then asked these same Canadians, in order to have a clean environment will you help pay for it. Land O Goshen, the overwhelming Canadian response was "Hell No"! The highest "Hell No" response was from Vancouver, BC the epicenter of environmental correctness.

So am I the only one who thinks that opportunistic opposition parties who are now spreading fear mongering to Canadians by spouting Kyoto, Global Warming, Hybrids, Environmental Crisis, while lambasting ruling Governments for environmental policies that these same opposition parties originally implemented when in power, and for many, many years did absolutely nothing? These are the same politicians when in power, spread inconvenient truths that outsourcing Western jobs to developing (Worse pollution generating and child labour) nations is good for the Western Economies.

By forcing ruling western governments to implement Kyoto in their own country, while their polluting non compliant neighbouring nations, our politicians outsourced our birthright by sending all our manufacturing jobs has just resulted in more "manufacturing pollution" in these developing countries which we as a Western Society will subsidize through Kyoto for generations to come. These polluting developing nations are not and never will develop environmental technology (they want Western Technology and our money to do that for them) to reduce pollution in their countries, especially since they do not have to comply with environmental laws and compounding this with their horrific human rights abuses and child labour will grow increasingly wealthier (though it's citizens will not see a penny) while western nations will get increasingly poorer.

Western Society and all nations need to do something feasible with cleaning our environment, radical ideas will bankrupt us, and money into research for alternative pollution free products and technology produced by Western Nations is the only answer. Once we have perfected that Technology, we will then give it free to these Developing Nations, most likely through the World Bank or CIDA "forgivable debt free loans".

Now Public Readers,I wish I had an answer, but I don't, I just do my part, in my small way to control my environment around me.

In ending my final though is Opposition Politicians certainly smack of opportunism in spreading "Inconvenient Hypocrisy".

Here is some interesting information (Link) below on Al Gore and his Environmental Hypocrisy.
