If you blinked yesterday you missed it. Iran has moved over to a Euro based economy as far as it's foreign exchange and various other functions are concerned. While the US media was busy obsessing over the nature of a skin cancer burned off of Laura Bush's shin, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was busy subtly altering the balance of economic power in the world. On the surface, Iran's decision seems harmless and irrelevant - international travelers exchange bills every day. Odds are that if you were traveling in France right now you could walk into a bank, slap down your debit card, and actually withdraw Euros from your US checking account. You'll pay a minor transaction fee, but at when all is said and done you'll walk out with fresh crisp Euros in your hand. If you didn't want Euros you could still withdraw dollars and avoid paying the transaction fee.If you were to do this you'd have just illustrated both edges of the sword Ahmadinejad has chosen to wield.

I missed it too, but not because of the First Lady's skin cancer. I was more fixated on the bizarre rabbis who validated the Iranian conference on the holocaust.
So many, many thanks. Here's a question: what do you think is behind Ahmadinejad's obscure PR strategy? I confess it completely baffles me.
