Opinion

REDMOND, Wash. (AP) - Seven dog lovers who oppose the chaining of pets spent part of the weekend tethered to dog houses and poles as their canine friends frolicked in an off-leash area of a park.

"We do it for the animals because they can't speak for themselves and we want people to know that it is actually a form of cruelty," said Susan Hartland, who handed out fliers to passing dog owners Saturday while tied by a rope to a lawn stake.

My Final Thought
Of course, I am sure Parents whose children were mauled to death by untethered dogs would have a difference of opinion.

People of inane stupidity who protest over trivial
things to get featured in the media,  the media for failing to report
and question these people in regards to children becoming victims to
roaming animials certainly deserve retributrion and disdain from  the
readership when they prostrate themselves on the ground writhing like
dogs and demand letting dogs off leashes to roam a public park where
children gather smacks of  their "Lack of intelligence and foresight"
resulting to the tragic inevitable. Last time I checked,  Humans had
those qualities or so I thought. Which leaves me no other idea why else
they would enjoy tethering themselves, except they enjoy collars and
leashes, hence the S&M label.

In ending, people who take every opportunity to chain themselves up in public parks and bark like French Poodles, perhaps have ulterior motives, what's next? Designer Doggy Ass Perfume?
Vitamin Enriched Sports Drink Toilet Water for Dogs.

Who knows, perhaps these self professed Doggie lovers may just like strapping on collars, chasing cars and rolling in their own feces.

Barry Artiste, I think your story has potential but needs some improvement. I've got a few suggestions, and if you give them a try, I'd be happy to remove this flag.

I'm just a little confused about your point here...are you disagreeing with people keeping their dog off a leash, or accusing them of being into S&M, or both? Neither? It would help if we knew where the news story ended and your opinion began--have you looked into downloading our higlight tool (http://www.nowpublic.com/highlight)? It may help you make this distinction more easily.

Please also review What Makes News News. It can really help if you follow the old "W5" news formula -- making sure you have answered the questions: Who? What? Where? When? And Why? (You might want to check out our J-Tips for more help.) Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Barry Artiste, thanks for improving your story -- I can see you've put more effort into it. I've removed the flag and now more readers can see it. Thanks for your contribution.

Well Kaitlin I would think my final thought says it all whether or not I agree with them or not.

As for accusing them of S&M, well again that pretty much states everything as well. People of inane stupidity who protest over trivial things to get featured in the media,  the media for failing to report and question these people in regards to children becoming victims to roaming animials certainly deserve retributrion and disdain from  the readership when they prostrate themselves on the ground writhing like dogs and demand letting dogs off leashes to roam a public park where children gather smacks of  their "Lack of intelligence and foresight" resulting to the tragic inevitable. Last time I checked,  Humans had those qualities or so I thought. Which leaves me no other idea why else they would enjoy tethering themselves, except they enjoy collars and leashes, hence the S&M label.

My final thought,  I would appreciate the "Waggin wrench" being removed from my post, and put back into the toolbox.  My original story has been succinctly stated, leaving no question unanswered by those who know the dangers of unleashed dogs and children. Hence, shall remain as is.

I do like the highlight idea though, thanks, I always wondered how you did that.

In Ending

I tried to email you as well, but alas you are unreachable from your site, perhaps another software glitch?

Of course your Kittenish teasing regarding I go to those two Now Public links you suggested, such as J-Tips and "What makes News, News".  You know full well those are inaccessable until Now Public retooling has been completed. You are such a jolly jokester.  I have to go now my cat and dog are both vying for my attention as usual.

I think your point is much more clearly made here in this response than in the original article. I would suggest you transfer your response to me into your original story. Then I will be happy to remove the wrench.

Let me know if you have any trouble installing highlight.

Also, I assure you there is nothing "kittenish" about me or how I do things...I alert you to these links because they will be active shortly, and I want people reading your story to know how they can improve their own stories when those links become active again.

If I am joking about something, you'll know; and there will be nothing kittenish about it.

There done and done, like dinner. The kittenish reference is nothing more than dog vs cat, since we were on the topic of domestic animals nothing more.

The teasing reference is in response to getting in contact with you as I tried but your site leaves no way to do so. You have to agree, how can one contact one if no forwarding address is listed on your site.

Regardless changes are made.

It was nice of you to come back to visit my site though to respond, thanks

One more thing--what you're largely doing here (and I think you'd agree) is expressing an opinion.

I would therefore ask you to add "Opinions" to your tags to add this story to the group which includes contributor's opinions as well as news. This goes for future contributions where you express your opinion on a matter, as well.

When you make this adjustment, send me an email at kfontana[at]nowpublic[dot]com and I will remove the flag.
