This building is only a few hundreds yards from my office. I drove there this afternoon in less than 30 seconds. I pass by this office everyday and think about the anthrax attacks. The building is still fenced in  and the entrance is covered by a tarp.  In light of the fact that no one has been convicted in the anthrax mailing, I hope this building is not being re-opened prematurely.

A panel of federal environmental experts has concluded that the former anthrax-laden AMI building in Boca Raton has been cleared of the deadly spores that killed a photo editor nearly five years ago and shuttered the building.

The report was sent to Palm Beach County health director Jean Malecki, who will review the papers and decide whether the building can reopen. Her decision is expected next week.

The agencies reviewing the data included the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, U.S. Public Health Service, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency.

''In summary, based in the information available, the technical working group concludes that the measures used to treat and remove B. anthracis at the former AMI building, located at 5401 Broken Sound Blvd., were successful,'' concludes the report, which was obtained today by The Palm Beach Post.
