What was a peaceful protest march along the streets of Hong Kong Island (Lockhart Road) turned into violent clash with Hong Kong Police.

Protesters were able to break through police lines numerous times, advancing towards the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center where the Sixth WTO Ministerial Conference was being held.

The police had to close off the entire Wan Chai area from subway (MTR) and road traffic, and advised all residence to leave the area and stay in doors.

The police utilized tear gas and pepper powder bombs to disperse the protestors.

At 22:00 local time the police had surrounded 900+ protesters in the middle of Gloucester Road.

[Editorial] By 03:45 the Hong Kong Police began to arrest the 900+ protesters and it was fairly peaceful.
