Here is AP's take on their deal with us:

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Associated Press and NowPublic.com said Friday they had agreed to a partnership to let AP to use photographs, video and news from "citizen journalists" in its newsgathering operation.

Jim Kennedy, AP's vice president and director of strategic planning said,"We're
not just going to take content directly from the contributors and put
it on the wire," he said. "We're going to edit and verify it just like
we would any other contribution."

This isn't the forum to comment on AP's verification and editing procedures.  Suffice to say, they've endured their share of criticism, lately.

Let me say, this has the potential to be very big, and I'm happy for y'all, Tippet.  I just hope NP doesn't lose it's "freshness" by trying to be something that it is not.

Good on you Mike and all at "Th' Crowd".

Old media actually taking new media seriously.  The information "pipe" just got bigger, and hopefully, broader.

Again, good on you all!

Yay! This will provide all kinds of encouragement to NP's brave band of citizen journalists. We are going to make a real difference- a big difference- in what gets reported and why. Congrats... and synonyms.
