APEC Friday. Stephen Harper Announcement
Today at APEC Canadian PM Stephen Harper stole at least part of the show by announcing that Canada is now setting mandatory emission reduction targets.

The other highlight was the arrival of Vladamir Putin. The first visit ever to Australia by a Russian President.

President Puytin arrived with his check book in hand and purchased Billions of dollars worth of Uranium. He was also presented with a bottle of 2400$ Grange Hermatige by Alexander Downer. Yum!

John Howard’s leadership woes took a turn for the worse when calls for him to resign came from within his own party.

Protesters were mainly kept away by the weather, but a few still turned up. There were minor clashes.

The boys from Chaser’s War on Everything were arrested again pulling another stunt today and the footage of the fake Canadian motorcade and the new stunt is here also.

Thing should liven up tomorrow when it’s estimated that some 20,000 people will converge on Sydney for the main protest.

@ moonwolf and @ Ryan Nadel. Thanks guys and thanks to tour PM. In Breaking news from APEC he managed to get a climate change proposal up. The fist one ever. YAY!!  President Bush however offended Putin as the spat about missile bases continued but worse he also offended South Korea, when their PM wanted an end to the Korean war and in a very unstatesman like blurb said "That there would be no further talks about this until NK gave upo it's Nuclear weapons. Pity really with so much going on that he is really the only leader making waves here. Everyone else is getting down to talking.

See if you can find the Harper Climate change news It should be floating about by now. Should be a good story. I can never understand why when it comes to Canada and Australia they say we are twins. So why does Australia always seem to be the evil one :)

SthPacific, Yes, this video is hilarious with the Australian commentator remarking "well, he is from Texas" after Bush mixed APEC with OPEC, and made reverence to the "Austrian soldiers". The alcoholic haze from earlier years is still interfering with things a bit. This incompetence is plastered across the main daily news papers here in New Zealand. Remember, this Bush guy never even had a passport when he first became president!. Is he part of the one fifth of Americans who cannot pinpoint the USA on a map of the world?. Good stuff.
