Apparent security breach causes delays at Vancouver Airport
Traffic through the Vancouver International Airport was delayed Sunday for about two hours because of an apparent security breach, authorities said.
It happened after a screening officer spotted a suspicious image at a security checkpoint.
"The screen officer noticed on their screen what they thought could be a prohibited item," said Renee Fairweather with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority.
Fairweather said it wasn't clear what the object was.
The bag in question had already left the screening point, and a decision was made to rescreen passengers, she said.
Departure lounges were evacuated and departure gates were closed for just over two hours, causing major lineups across the airport.
