Apple iPhone - is it that good?

I have been looking at photos of the newly announced Apple iPhone ( the real iPhone not the Linksys one :) )

And it seems that the phone is a 2G model and not a modern 3G one. This seems strange seeing the phone won't be released for six months in the US - and not until next year sometime in my country of Australia.

The photo of the back shows the little camera with it's tiny camera but there is no camera on the front for 3G services like video calls. Plus where is the photo light/flash? I use mine all the time on my Sony Ericsson mobile - the photo-light is great to get better picture when there is low light.

Maybe it is not as great as first thought - will it be just another smartphone out there - it does have the extra memory needed that other smartphones lack but, strangely, no expansion slot. All smartphones have them.
