Multiple Listing Service reported yesterday that the month of April was another record setting in real estate for the province.

The total sales hit $220,664,383 in April. This was fueled by higher sales in almost all regions of the province. Last year's April record was $159,584,718 in total sales.

The total number of sales dipped 4% compared to April 2005 in Halifax-Dartmouth. However, the value of the sales was 44 per cent higher than April 2005, and 33 per cent more than March 2006.

The average price in the Halifax area in April was $279,748 for a residential property. That was a 48 per cent increase from the average price a year ago.
