 UPDATE TUESDAY JULY 17:

The National Consumer Agency is recommending that anyone who has any complaints following last weekend's Barbara Streisand concert, contact them with the details. The acting Chief Executive of the NCA says the organisation has received numerous complaints regarding the event. Long delays getting to the venue and confusion over seating meant some fans were left disappointed.

Consumer chief Ann Fitzgerald says they will investigate whether music promoter MCD met its obligations to those attending the event.
Apology issued to Streisand concert goers

The organisers of last night's Barbara Streisand concert in Celbridge, Co Kildare have apologised to those who experienced difficulties attending the event.

17,000 people attended the event at Castletown House, with ticket prices ranging from 118 to over 500 euro.

Some concert goers complained that traffic jams, coupled with difficulties within the arena itself, resulted in them missing part of the show.

In a joint statement by MCD and Concert Production International, the organisers said that the traffic problems were primarily due to adverse weather conditions which added an extra dynamic to the already difficult driving conditions as a result of major road works on the M50 / N4.
I was amazed to discover that anyone would pay up to Euro 500 or more to attend a Streisand concert and I was very pleased to discover that the public in Italy had more sense. Italian consumer groups complained that her show tickets were too expensive. The groups stated that ticket prices, which ranged from $200 to more than $1,200 were "absurd and shameful". They added the city's 24,000-seat Stadio Flaminio venue "is public property and cannot be used for immoral deals that are shameful to a civilized country" The 65-year-old recently insisted ticket prices for her shows were justified because part of the proceeds will go to her charity, the Barbra Streisand Foundation. This is a wonderful approach to giving to charity ... get your fans to pay and then claim the credit.
