Arrest Leads to Terror Investigation
Neighbor's say they haven't seen much if any business there since it opened two months ago. They also say the mystery man acted really shady, closing the blinds quickly every time he and his associates arrived.
Authorities have also linked the suspect to an address in the unit block of South 54th Street in West Philadelphia, but there was no sign that anyone had been living there.
Action News has learned that a Commerce Bank account was opened in the company's name in mid-October in the amount of $22,000. Authorities are trying to follow the money.
"I have a group of detectives whose job is to find out where the money originated, where it was going, who these individuals are," Chitwood explained.
The suspect raised suspicions when he went into the Commerce Bank on Garrett Road Thursday, identifying himself as Batti. He withdrew $8,700. When he went back again later in the day attempting to withdraw another $9,700, a teller noticed he didn't look like the man in the various id's he provided.
He had a New Jersey driver's license, credit cards and what appeared to be a doctored Pakistani passport. Some of the pages had been glued into the cover. He also had a fake social security card.
