ArtCamp is Here
ArtCamp starts at 930 am on Thursday, September 21, 2006 with registration and coffee. There will be a board where people can come and put themselves down for a session. So far on the planning wiki we have seen some great proposed sessions, including talks about the Japanese Noise Music scene, Pure Data, deconstructing artist statements, geek dating, improvisational filmmaking, as well as informational sessions from representatives of the venerable Canadian Film Centre/Habitat New Media Lab and the excellent Techlab at the Surrey Art Gallery. There will be more than one university class relocated to ArtCamp to hold open round table discussions, as well as the (yes it's confirmed!) giant mechanical spider on show. We have had an extremely high level of exposure and interest, and are very excited about the event tomorrow when it all gets to happening. Check in tomorrow for some great photographs throughout the day.
-----
ArtCamp is an open, self-organizing "un-conference" geared toward
sharing practices and ideas on art, media, networks and culture. The
idea is to create an event in which conference structures are
overturned in favour of collective, self-organizational models. ArtCamp
is an experiment in bringing these principles into action in the
context of art discourse, production and practice.
