NP Rank:
Artist to Eat a Corgi
AN artist is launching a demo against the Royal Family — by eating a corgi.Mark McGowan, 37, will scoff one of the dogs, the Queen’s favourite pets, on a live radio show next week.
The artist — who once ate a swan in a performance art show — said it was in protest at the Royals’ treatment of animals.
He said: “I’m raising awareness at the inability of the RSPCA to
prosecute Prince Philip and his friends for shooting a fox this year.
It was left to fight for life for five minutes then beaten to death.”
The corgi, which died at a breeding farm last week, will be served up on London’s 104.4 Resonance FM on May 29.
But RSPCA chiefs blasted the stunt. A spokeswoman said: “If the dog’s dead he’s free to eat it.
“But we did look at the incident with Prince Philip and decided no
offence was committed. I’d suggest Mr McGowan try a private
prosecution.”McGowan, of Peckham, South London, earlier pushed a peanut to Downing Street using just his nose.

Without weighing in as either pro-corgi consumption or con, I'd suggest that an accompanying webcast would serve MacGowan well, as eating something over the radio isn't quite as immediate: listeners won't know if he's really doing it!
