As theater owners fiddle, studios burn more DVDs

It's time for a reality check in fantasy land, as even Hollywood optimists are getting discouraged about the future of movie theaters.

I wouldn't be surprised to see theater managers outside their venues, wearing tattered robes and carrying signs declaring: "The End Is Near."

Someday, and sooner than you think, the movie experience as we've known it for more than a century will be obsolete.
