AT&T users had experienced service outage to att.net's webmail and homepage access for several hours. The service interruption was caused by a fiber optic cable cut, according to AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel. The service was restored by 10:15 am EST.
The service outage affected a large number of users. On Twitter it appears that the outage began about 6 hours ago, indicated by a sharp increase in search queries about ATT.net.
“Due to a fiber cut, access to www.att.net was temporarily impacted earlier this morning,” company spokesman Mark Siegel wrote in an e-mail. “Access to the att.net site has been restored.”
