The New York Law Journal just reported that Lynne Stewart will receive a 26 month sentence, but she will be allowed to remain free until her appeal is heard, an important fact for Stewart, who is recovering from cancer.  Lynne Stewart was facing 30 years in prison, and it was reported that there was a celebration at the court house directly after the judge finished his decision. Yes. You know, the government has put in what my dear friend Bill
Kunstler used to call “weasel words,” words that don’t state the exact
facts but really pull a kind of reaction. So they use words like
“smuggled out messages.” We would visit the Sheik. He would tell us, he
would dictate to us letters. He would dictate to us press releases.
