You know all legal and scientific logic has gone out the window, when a anti drug advocate is arrested for minute traces of hashish on his clothing.
Granted he may have had traces in his blood, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) "Zero Tolerance on Drugs" may be this man's undoing. I wish I had the good fortune of knowing this man, as I would have apprised him in the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). But in average outdoor temperatures of 130 + degree heat, he may have suffered heat stress wearing such PPE and it may have seriously caused fatal health concerns.

Hopefully UAE's investigation into the good this man is trying to achieve in helping wean farmers off opium product may garner his quick release as soon as possible so he can get on with his work.

Final Though

The War on Drugs being a Global Conern, perhaps in future Canada can form a mutual formal agreement with countries who produce opium, enabling people like Bert who try and help in the war on drugs at it's birthplace in apprising Law Enforcement of his scientific activities and prevent future mishaps.  Looks like an easy fix to me.
