Bangladesh unveils Rs 47,000 crore budget

Bangladesh yesterday unveiled a 69,740 crore Taka (approx Rs 47,000 crore) budget with highest allocations for education and information technology.

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, cabinet members and lawmakers from the treasury and opposition benches, except Sheikh Hasina Wajed of the Awami League, were present in the House to listen to Bangladesh Finance Minister M Saifur Rahman's speech on the proposed budget, his record 12th national budget since 1977.
