Having spent all my childhood and spent most of my life in all the three East African countries: Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, I love Africa with a passion. And having spent much of that time, within the jungles, savannas and wildlife of East Africa - I am passionate too, about nature and wildlife. At the same time, I am very much at home here in Hadhramout too, and do love it and am very much passionate about it, just as I am of Africa.

Thanks to my late Dad, who instilled in me and my siblings the most important values, morals and ethics of Islam which is synonymous with what Hadhramis are supposed to be. And these teachings, are what make me what I am. I hope. Of the most repeated statements of my late Dad, I always remember this:”Be honorable in your behavior and all your dealings; be -kind, caring and compassionate to your family, neighbors and all whom you meet; and be kind,fair and just, not only to fellow human beings but to all creatures on Earth.” On knowledge he would say: “The best weapon and the best shield is a pen and the power of words”.

I love reading, children, nature, brisk walking, swimming, cycling,traveling and quiet places. I love tea and value my sleep. I do not smoke nor take alcohol. My closest friends are my daughters and sons; I feel best and happiest when with my Family. I now spend most of my time in Hadhramout, where my soul is. But I regularly visit East Africa where a larger part of my family is;and my heart and mind is always in East Africa. Wandering. From the green belt of Northern Uganda through the slopes of Mount Elgon and the streets of Nairobi - breathing in the scent of frangipani. And on,to the plains around Kilimanjaro and Selous.
