A story first seen on NowPublic appears to have been developed by the BBC into a radio piece for their Today program on the British radio channel Radio 4. It was broadcast on Friday 17th. August 2007 – four days after the NowPublic article was published. The story, written by the author of Anglo American, first appeared as a comment adjacent to a letter written by the British conservative member for parliament, John Redwood, in the British Daily Telegraph. It was then posted to NowPublic. The radio piece, which can be heard through the link below, develops the story with an interview of a "professional" re-stating the comments that you can read in the full article on this website called "UK Conservatives Desperate for Direction UPDATE ."
So far the BBC has failed to acknowledge its source for their story. But this will not concern the viewers of NowPublic because the story broke here first!
Update: BBC Radio 4 Today Programme confirm Redwood not on the rails when it comes to trains. You can go to this link and listen to Richard Hope, Consultant Editor, Railway Gazette International - broadcast @ 0849 Friday 17th. August.
Mr John Redwood, the darling of the right of the British Conservative Party, has written a letter outlining the party’s vision for the future and its all about trains.
If I remember correctly the older parts of the Paris metro runs on rubber tires {together, with steel wheels} for reasons of noise and vibration to surrounding buildings - especially when they go above ground. I can’t see Mr. Redwood’s point there.
