1965 Plymouth Belvedere II set up for drag racing but also occasionally driven on the street. 451 CID engine. 600+ horsepower on the engine; another 250 in a bottle. Fiberglass hood and bumpers. Plastic rear side windows with regulators removed. Back seat, cafrpet, interior panels, etc. all removed to save weight. Manual valvebody modified 727 transmission. Wilwood discs in front, drums out back. High 10s/low 11s in the quarter if launched right -- and that's without the bottle. If just just stand on the gas with 32 pounds of air in the tires (e.g., 100% street trim, ust as you would drive down the block) you'll still run mid-to-low 12s without even thinking about the bottle.Nikon D50 with Nikon 18-200 VR at 24mm, ISO 400, 1/100 second shutter at f5.

"One of the photographs used in the story is mine, but it is wrongly attributed to "NP 1 121237". The photograph is entitled "The Beast." I took it and it is of my car, a blue/green 1965 Plymouth Belvedere II."
