Betting their Sickles: Potter fans take odds on Book 7
There's bound to be some hefty withdrawals from Gringott's Wizarding Bank this weekend: HP fans (and casual odds-watchers) are betting on who will die and who will survive in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, out tonight at midnight. And they're not just talking about it, either--they're actually betting...you know with, like, money and stuff.
A quick Google search of "Harry Potter betting" brings up several online portals where Potter watchers can toss their Galleons and Sickles at the characters most likely to perish.

*Assuming Dumbledore did not really die at the end of Book Six
It's true, Agence France-Presse has reported: Gamblers wealthy or odd enough to wager on fiction put down money with bookies. The prevailing bet? Potter to die.Harry's death would show that his character's path is modeled on the Gospel accounts of Jesus', and, that the link between him and wizardry-school headmaster Albus Dumbledore is patterned on the most essential relationship in the Christian Bible — that between Jesus the Son and God the Father.
