The ever-growing Bicycle Film Festival -- which was started after
festival director Brendt Barber was struck by a bus while riding his
bike -- begins its sixth annual world tour in New York City on
Wednesday, May 10. The largest bicycle-related cultural event in the
country, the BFF calls attention to urban bike culture with shorts and
feature films that celebrate the bicycle in all its forms and styles.
The festival opens with a rock show by surprise performers -- last
year's headliners were bike enthusiasts Blonde Redhead -- and a party.
Highlights include the closing night BFF DVD release party, a launch
party for Peter Sutherland's photo book and DVD set, Pedal (Powerhouse
Books), the NYC premiere of Jacob Septimus and Anthony Howard's
B.I.K.E., Mike Martin and Gabe Morford's M.A.S.H., the Neistat
Brothers' Gasoline vs. Yogurt and Christopher Ryan's Criminal Mass. And
what would the BFF be without its trustworthy, complimentary valet bike
parking service? Visit the Web site for the full program and to buy
tickets and festival passes.
